Some nice places today

I've had a good day today on the outreach, a good response from some key partners and I've picked up some hopefully solid links back to our site as part of the discussions.

The International Monetary fund runs a blog and we have contributed to their discussions about the Philippines.

My Gravator is doing nicely and I've blogged my icon link in a good selection of places.

I've been involved with Blogger for some time, but I recently set a new blogger up, I really should focus on my more established accounts but creating something new is kind of fun also.

The European Union has a great discussion forum which I came across only by chance, but I've already joined a lot of groups that match my interests in Finance and enviromental issues.  This is one I am going to keep checking back on, because I can see it matches a lot of my interests outside of the internet, politics for one!

Experiment is a great science crowdfunding site, really wish I had found that one sooner as I am really enjoying supported great science and tech projects.

Google Redirection I sometimes see these from time to time but I don't know what causes them.

So a great day today, really interested to see if any of the above get picked up and if they do, if that makes any difference!

Crowfunding places

This week I've been supporting some new projects via a range of crowdfunding sites, these are relatively new but a great concept, it allows people to source funding from all around the world to push their projects.

It is suprising how many people like to support such ventures. For example

Medical research - I supported a few projects undertaking medical research

Experiment - this is a great site and supports scientific research, as a graduate biologist this type of approach really appeals to me.

I also support a homeless organisation in London who helps people get back into work and sort out their lives - all of these are very worthwhile and excellent causes.

Prestashop a great free script

For many years I owned and ran a Technology business offering a wide range of web services, domain names, webhosting, web design and app development.  After some time experimenting with different platforms we decided to focus on Prestashop the great thing about this script is that it is free and comes with a large base of developers, there are for example free and paid modules available.

There is also a third party market place for modules so you can mostly find a module that does anything you are looking for.  We found for example a module to integrate prestashop with Sage Line 50 so your accounts dont need data entry and sales and payments get posted automatically to your ledgers.

For years it was one of my favs

I Just joined their community its been many years since I was involved but I am dealing with some startup businessses at the moment who are looking for eccomerce platforms so it helps to have a hand in there to see what has gone on since I sold my businesses and what is new with Prestashop.

Another great place I sometimes visit and make use of is spark, wbich is a publishing platform run by Adobe the guys who do the PDF sofware, check out business research on spark which is one of my article on there.

Firefox the best browser

I've always found Firefox to be the best browser, for me Internet Explorer was always a bit slow and clunky, then along came Chrome, but the issue with Google is that you have no expectation of privacy and they have a vested interest in using your browing data to improve their own Search Engine experience.

Firefox on the other hand is independent and has developed a really great brower experience by being more focused on that.  Chrome is catching up I have to admit and Firefox does sell its data though not in granular form ie you can't trace your own browsing patterns from it.

This week we have launched a Firefox Addon this is my first experience of developing an application for Firefox and it really is great to be working with them in this way.   I've noticed also their theme options and are looking for a developre with experience of that so we can launch a theme or two of our own.

Hopefully some traffic and trust will transfer from our page on the Mozilla Firefox site down to Reporting Accounts what is new page.

More great places kindly featuring our site

I've been busy this last week, further posting and frequenting new sites, many of which I have been a member of for many years but some new ones also.  This post is partly to help me keep track of where I have been and what I have been doing, so I can at least follow and find my way back if I loose track, which I often do these days.  But it also serves to help bring visitors from my Blogger account across to these new places.

First off SEMRUSH - I used this service a lot back in my days at the domain registrar, I didn't really get a chance to comment on many of the great articles, but I've used my time this week to do just that, so here I am Adrian Lawrence on SEMRush.

Semrush is very similar to ahrefs which I have used for very many years.

BT  Business forum - this is a strangely low profile forum for what is a jumbo company and their huge UK base of customers.  But all the same I have been a BT customer on and off for 30 years so its great to have a connection with them at last.

My family were with BT for ages and we all made a small amount of money from their floatation back in the 1980's I can't believe that was so long ago but it was now!

Product Hunt is a place I have had an account for a few years, but almost forgot about it, anyway this time I've spent extra time and effort making a better profile with more detail and links through to our site.  Check out Adrian Lawrence on Producthunt.

Product hunts is a very cool site and a great way to get products off the ground. See also my wefund profile

Shopify is another interesting site it is a very rapidly growing Ecommerce script, and in something like the Prestashop format, in that way it is like so many of these out there it does have SEO issues and in response to that a whole community of SEO outfits have sprung up helping Shopify stores to make the most out of what they have.

I joined the Shopify Community for the first time this week so I can drop in my two pennies worth of advice also.  Not sure if I can pick up customers or work from this type of approach but it is a way for me to learn more about the SEO Shopify niche area.

Seed and Spark is a kind of Seed investment site a little bit like kickstarter and many of those other similar ones.  I've been busy supporting a good number of projects and actually funded a few directly also, it really will be interesting to see how these turn out.  Adrian on Seed and Spark is my profile and this site is focussed mostly onto the media and film creation niche, so a very highly creative area.

Mini sites on Google seem to perform well also.

I plan to keep working on this profiles until they get some traction which hopefully won't be too long given how strong these sites appear to be.

I've invested in a lot of small early stage busineses maybe 40 or so, but each time my investment has been small, but as they say every little helps, and all of the projects I've invested in are very worthwhile ventures.

More encouraging progress

It has taken me a while to find the time to write a really good and long post for this blog, in the past I've made the mistake of just posting short little posts which I now realise is not what SERP requests are looking for these days.

This post is about some of the progress I have been making recently.

It has been some time in developement but this week we are proud to announce that we launched our Android App on the Google play store this week.  You can find our reporting accounts app here At the moment I am not sure how much potential this channel has, but I know that Google is growing the Android channel with real determination and I only have to watch the amount of time that my youngest daughter Sophie spends on her phone to realise that this channel is growing and will continue to do so I consider that  apps are a  separate channel and even if only a handful of people search and download our app, that will represent some new traffic at least.

Also having a link on a Google site such as the play store can't be a bad thing from an SEO point of view, after all if the playstore doesn't have a high DA and Trust rank store who the heck does!

I'll keep this post updated and let you know what sort of metrics I get and if I can detect any general traffic benefit as a result of this link.
